Two Bangladeshi Companies with world-class consultancy and engineering skills has formed a Joint Venture to develop Energy Auditing, Cleaner Production and to minimize the use process water in the textile sector – all intended to maximize manufacturing productivity and profitability and to minimize the amount of damaging effluent discharged into our Bangladesh rivers. Rodney Reed Managing Director will sign for Reed Consulting BD Ltd and Akber Hakim, (Managing Director and CEO) signed for Engineering Resources International.

Reed Consulting Bangladesh Ltd has worked in the textile sector in Bangladesh for the past six years and has a national and international reputation in Corporate Social Responsibility – inside and outside the factory gates. Reed Consulting has recently completed a very successful International Finance Corporation and SouthAsia Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF) (IFC SEDF) Cleaner Production Project in six Bangladeshi knitwear factories where US$1milliion was saved in water and energy over an eight month period. The company has delivered many other successful projects in variety of trade sectors in Bangladesh funded by international donor agencies or by the businesses themselves. Directors of the Company are well known as Seminar Speakers and as Authors of many articles and several books on socially responsible manufacturing in Bangladesh.

Senior members of the business and academic communities of Bangladesh attended the launch and Joint Venture Agreement signing ceremony at the ERI office in North Banani. Special Guests will include Former Education Minister Sheikh Shahidul Islam, Dr. Nooruddin, Past Vice Chancellor of BUET and Engr. R.M. Khan, Past President of “DCCI”
